Synopsis
Bertolucci returns to Paris for the first time since Last Tango In Paris. In this intimate tale of three cinema-obsessed youngsters and their intensely sexually-charged dynamic, Bertolucci pays tribute to the students of 1968 as well as the great Hollywood movies of the 30's and 40's and the directors of the nouvelle vague.
Paris, 1968 - students are out on the streets, and revolution is in the air. Teenage siblings Theo (Louis Garrel) and Isabelle (Eva Green) befriend Matthew (Michael Pitt), an American student living in Paris. All three of them are fanatical cinephiles, and they spend their days and nights passionately watching movies at the Cinematheque. With their parents away, Isabelle and her brother invite Matthew to move in with them, and the three youngsters soon find themselves unable to leave the apartment - at first playing movie trivia games, but soon participating in a complex psychological and sexual dynamic. Meanwhile, on the city streets, the student demonstrations reach boiling point...
