Synopsis

In 1842 the gifted young English artist Richard Dadd went on a Grand Tour of Europe and the Middle East with his patron. On reaching Egypt he was suffering from delusions and sunstroke. He began to hear voices and become obsessed with the Egyptian god Osiris who told him to murder his father.
On returning to England he was ill, unrecognisable and proceeded to kill his father who he believed to be an imposter.Dadd was commited to the asylum Bedlam, where he painted his greatest (and now highly regarded) works, works that uncovered a world beneath the surface of the every day.
Based on the novel by Jennifer Higgie published in 2006.
