About the Database

Our UK Films Database is an extensive searchable database of new and recent UK produced and UK co-produced films.
The Database has a separate 'In Production' section which lists feature-length films (fiction and documentary) currently in progress, either in pre-production, production, or post-production.

  • The Favourite

An Ireland, UK, US co-production, The Favourite premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August 2018.

The UK Films Database contains a continuously expanding record of UK features, shorts, documentaries and animation. Its archive of UK produced and co-produced films extends back to 1998.

Each Database entry contains a brief synopsis, along with information on the production company, sales agent, cast and crew.

Films In Production
This is a separate section of the Database which lists UK produced and co-produced feature-length films (fiction and documentary) in progress, either in pre-production, production, or post-production, prior to their inclusion in the UK Films Database. It also lists current information on the film's director, producers, screenwriter, cast, sales agent and production status.

If you would like to enter your film into the Database – either while it is in production or if it is already complete – you can suggest a new film.

Let us know if you have any updates or spot any amendments you'd like us to make to entries in the UK Film Database by mailing us at: Films@britishcouncil.org

UK Film Catalogues
Each year, we choose a selection of films from the UK Films Database to include in our features, shorts, documentaries and animation catalogues. These are compiled and released as printable PDFs, and intended particularly to assist festival programmers, film buyers, filmmakers, students and historians. The catalogues represent the wide range of UK films made each year.
