Christy
Synopsis
Following a fight at his foster home, Christy moves in with his estranged brother Shane, Shane’s partner, Stacey, and their daughter, Darleen. Christy is at a crossroads during his last year of required legal supervision and, after years apart, the brothers are now getting to know one another for the first time.
Between joining Shane on painting jobs, Christy makes new friends, including Leona, and is welcomed by the wider community. But he still struggles with the weight of an uncertain future and turbulent past, particularly over the trauma of having lost his mother at a young age. He’s also increasingly resistant to Shane’s insistence that he live with another family, which he sees as a painful rejection.
Christy’s success as a barber at the local salon and deepening friendships further pull at him, with his fear and fragility coming to a head after a bust-up with Shane. As the summer bonfire burns, Christy and Shane finally let their walls down and Christy learns to find his own feet within this new community; this new family.
