Synopsis

Set in Glasgow in 1973, this film is the wryly comic story of young James Gillespie and his faltering first steps on the path of true love. In her debut feature, award-winning director Ramsay creates a highly original world seen through the eyes of a thoughtful and imaginative child. Ramsay's striking control of the camera, sumptuous images and impressive command of non-professional actors have twice won her the Prix du Jury for Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival; for Small Deaths in 1996 and for Gasman in 1998.
