River Crossing
Synopsis
River Crossing is based on true story. A childhood memory of two sisters on a family excursion.
Instructed by a dominant father to cross a dangerous river and return a stranger's belongings to the opposite bank, two young girls almost drown.
A girl's voice narrates the main event but at the start of the river crossing, it is replaced by a woman's voice. This memorable day becomes the turning point of the girl's life, with no possibility of return.
Running water, the wide river and the crossing serve as metaphors for her rites of passage to adulthood: the moment she grew years in a single day.
