The Jungle
Synopsis
10,000 people from all corners of a shattered World. Afghans and Sudanese dominate with Syrians, Eritreans, Iraqis and more. The Jungle is unique. Rich in cultural diversity, religion and language, yet fiscally impoverished. A magnet for thousands of British volunteers wanting to help. It is the shore on which the waves of our own foreign policy wash up and an icon for fears about mass immigration.
We filmed migrants and refugees here for two years, trying to survive this shanty-town in the heart of Europe. Through floods, fires and evictions, right up to the bitter end: Human stories that echo the biggest question of our time.
